Michael Tangeman has worked as a digital content, media relations and social media specialist on behalf of internet and mobile technology companies based in Europe, Latin America and the United States.
As head of his own agency and as an independent consultant, he developed and executed successful media relations, digital marketing & social media strategies for clients that included StartMeApp Mobile RTB Exchange, PUSHTech™ Mobile Marketing Cloud, Avanquest Software and others.
Previously, he was a founding Board Member and program organizer for Mobile Monday Miami, while serving from 2004-09 as Senior Account Director and Vice-President with The Pen Group Communications, where he was agency lead on technology and mobile client accounts that included Nokia Latin America and Forum Nokia, the Finnish handset manufacturer’s global third-party developer program.
Michael’s involvement with the tech and mobile industries dates to the mid-1990s, when as the Mexico City-based Contributing Editor for Infrastructure Finance magazine, he began reporting on the unbundling and privatization of state-owned fixed-line and mobile telecoms carriers and the auction of wireless spectrum by governments across Latin America.
He continued that coverage as Senior Editor with LatinFinance magazine in Miami and in 1998 he joined London-based Informa Telecoms & Media group as Senior Analyst & Latin America Regional Editor, leading research and reporting on LatAm mobile and fixed-line telecommunications, the region’s cable and satellite television markets and rapidly emerging Internet market.
In 2000, Michael joined the executive management team of Internet startup 1hemisphere.com, following which he developed and produced regional mobile telecoms and technology conferences in Brazil, Mexico and Miami, with B2B technology conference startup Latin Venture and the New York-based Institute for International Relations (IIR-USA).
